About the Artist
Ocie Templin - Artist
Ocie Templin has spent a career working as a Registered Nurse. Ocie went into nursing while she and her husband Garry were raising their two sons. When the family moved to the Nashville area in 2002, Ocie became aware of the opportunity of art classes taught at Plaza Art Store in downtown Nashville. Ocie started taking oil painting classes from Gayle Leveé, who teaches painting in the classical methods taught by the Boston School of Impressionism. Gayle has become a personal friend and will always be Ocie’s mentor, just as Gayle’s mentor was Robert Douglas Hunter.
Ocie Templin is working in the medium of oil painting. Her artistic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from West Virginia University and the oil painting classes with Gayle Leveé. Ocie was instructed in sewing and crocheting as a young teen by her grandmother and her artistic endeavors grew from her grandmother’s wise words and the example she set. Ocie believes that artistic expression is a personal view or statement about the world around us. The process of learning to express oneself on canvas is a never-ending endeavor. Ocie is a member of the The Chestnut Group, Oil Painters of America and National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society. It is Ocie’s wish that the paintings that she displays to the public are interesting and pleasing to the viewer, as Ocie’s painting subjects are always close to her heart.
